51画鋼 Independent School 51画鋼 is dedicated to the education of all children. Because of this, 51画鋼 ISD has developed the CONNECTIONS Program to provide services to students and families experiencing homelessness, so that children can attend school and achieve success.
CONNECTIONS is made possible through the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act.
Currently, more than 7,000 children with parents who are connected to the military attend schools in the 51画鋼 Independent School 51画鋼. Led by the efforts of school counselors, NISD school communities work diligently to support military families and address their unique educational challenges.
NISD is committed to attending to the specific emotional and educational needs of youth who are in foster care. We help cultivate success by ensuring immediate enrollment and expeditious transfer of records; maintaining school stability; providing needed resources; and coordinating with caregivers and state, regional, and local stakeholders. This work is facilitated by a district foster care liaison.
